Shakespeare in American Communities is a program of The National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

Catskill Mountain Shakespeare hit the road

for its FIRST EVER traveling tour this spring!


With the support of the prestigious $25,000 grant from Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, CMS launched a production of Shakespeare’s iconic play The Tempest and traveled to local middle schools, high schools, arts collectives and other community venues throughout the Catskill region in April 2024.

A performance day that included a study guide, a Q&A session, and optional student workshops led by CMS Teaching Artists was offered aiming  to entertain, engage, and connect classical language with modern-day social issues.
